Tax Preparation
Business Tax Preparation Services for US Businesses and Owners
Our business tax preparation services cover S corporation, C corporation, partnership and individual returns. A tax return records what happened and tax planning changes what happens next, so we also look through the year for decisions that lower what you owe the following April.

Returns we prepare
For individuals we prepare Form 1040 with the schedules that go with your situation: Schedule C for self-employment, Schedule E for rental income, Schedule D for investment sales and state returns in every state where you earned income. Owners who run a business through a pass-through entity usually have a personal return that depends on the business return, so we prepare the two together and keep the numbers consistent.
For businesses we prepare Form 1120-S for S corporations, Form 1065 for partnerships and multi-member LLCs and Form 1120 for C corporations. S corporation and partnership returns are due March 15 for calendar-year entities, a month before individual returns, which is why the business books need to close early in the year. We file extensions where the records will not be ready and calculate the payment due with the extension, since an extension moves the filing date and not the payment date.
Tax planning during the year
Planning works when it happens before December 31. We project your tax in the fall using year-to-date numbers and show you where it lands. From there we look at retirement plan contributions, the timing of income and large purchases, the qualified business income deduction, depreciation elections and whether your entity type still fits the size of your business.
One common example: a sole proprietor with steady profit may save self-employment tax by electing S corporation status, at the cost of running payroll and filing an additional return. The savings are real only above a certain level of profit, and we run the comparison with your numbers before recommending a change.
We also calculate quarterly estimated payments so you avoid underpayment penalties, and we adjust them as your income changes during the year.
IRS and state notices
A notice is a letter asking you to agree, pay or explain. Many are resolved with a short response and supporting documents. We read the notice, confirm whether the agency is right and prepare the reply. If you are selected for an audit, we gather the records, attend meetings and handle the exchange with the examiner so that you answer only what is asked.
What we need from you
For individual returns, send last year's return, your W-2s and 1099s, mortgage and property tax statements and records of any estimated payments. For businesses, we work from the books, so a reconciled year-end file shortens the process considerably. If we maintain your bookkeeping, the return can usually start the week the year closes.
Choosing the right entity for your business
Entity choice affects your tax bill every year. A sole proprietorship or single-member LLC pays self-employment tax on all profit. An S corporation lets you split income between a reasonable salary, which carries payroll tax, and distributions, which do not. A partnership offers flexibility in how profit and loss are allocated among owners. A C corporation pays its own tax and has a place when you plan to retain earnings or raise outside capital.
We compare the options using your actual figures, including state taxes and the cost of added compliance. When a change makes sense, we handle the election and the first-year filings.

When are business tax returns due?
For calendar-year entities, S corporation and partnership returns are due March 15. C corporation and individual returns are due April 15. Extensions move the filing date but not the payment date.
Do you prepare returns for people in more than one state?
Yes. We prepare resident and nonresident state returns and handle the credits that prevent double taxation.
Can you help me decide between an LLC and an S corporation?
Yes. We model your tax under each structure using your actual profit and compensation figures, then give you the comparison.
What if I get an IRS notice?
Send it to us as soon as it arrives. Notices carry response deadlines, and we prepare the reply and any documentation.
